‘See How They Run’, Coal Mining Machinery in Action.
27/02/2009
The National Coal Mining Museum for England is delighted to announce a special event to enable visitors to ‘See How They Run’ on Sunday 8 March. The day will give visitors the chance to see coal mining power through the ages, with demonstrations of early horse power, right through to some of the large coal cutters usually kept in storage.
The machinery will be running to celebrate National Science and Engineering Week and the special day is a great opportunity for families to see engineering in action with the machines that dig, drill and move coal underground.
Once you’ve seen the machines in action you can take the Museum’s famous underground tour and travel 140 metres underground with an ex-miner to see how the machines are used in a working coal mine.
There is so much to do for free at the National Coal Mining Museum this spring, so make sure you pay a visit!
