West Yorkshire students explore their coal mining heritage through drama
11/05/2009
The National Coal Mining Museum for England is set to host a drama festival on Wednesday 20 May 2009, in partnership with University of Leeds and a number of local secondary schools.
This is the fourth year the Museum and the University have been brought together for a day of compelling drama, entitled ‘Mining Festival 2009’!
The university students have been working with the Education Team at the Museum and with groups of pupils from the Cathedral Church of England High School, Freeston Business and Enterprise College, and Ossett School.
The pupils have created pieces of dance and drama, which explore the different aspects of the coal mining industry, through physical, literal and abstract theatre. The performances will be between 11.00am- 2.30pm, and free to everyone, so just turn up and enjoy.
