This poster is the work of an ex-miner and tells the story of pit closures in the ten years since the 1984-5 miner’s strike. Each colliery and workshop is represented in closure date order by the colliery insignia or N.U.M. badges. The poster also has quotes on it from Peter Walker (Conservative Engergy Minister) and Margaret Thatcher (Conservative Prime Minister) from 1984. A third extract is from a letter sent to the miners from Ian MacGregor in 1984.
