A mixed media drawing of Markham Main Colliery at Armthorpe, South Yorkshire. The drawing, created using chalk, charcoal, pastel, crayon and pencil, shows the two distinctive winding headgears and surface colliery buildings. The artist felt that this medium reflected ‘the higgledy-piggledy nature of the structure and the buildings, which look as though they have evolved from necessity rather than by design!’
