This etching print of two delivery carts loaded with sacks of coal was produced by artist Francis Dodd in 1925. Dodd (1874 – 1949) was a British portrait painter, landscape artist, printmaker and member of the Royal Academy.

Coal was a large commodity and had to be moved by large carts. Coal waggons like this would travel the streets bringing coal to people’s houses for domestic fuel.
