Subject
The Oaks Disaster 1866

This limited edition bronze maquette was designed and sculpted by artist Graham Ibbeson to mark the 150th anniversary of the Oaks Colliery disaster of 1866. The sculpture depicts a woman and child rushing to hear news while the base shows a coal miner lying underground.

These studies were produced to help raise money for the full-sized version of the same sculpture which is now on display in Barnsley. This maquette is number 4 of 15.
