A letter giving notice of termination and re-employment during the 1926 General Strike, telling the employee that their contract of service with this company will terminate on the 30th day of April 1926. It also states a new offer of employment will be posted at the colliery on the 1st of May 1926, with new terms and conditions.
The letter is dated 23rd April 1926 and the employee is given as Fred Firth. The explanation for this change is a withdrawal of government subsidy in aid of wages, the word wages has been crossed out by pencil and replaced by a hand written inscription “shareholder profits”.
