Fire tender trailers were compact, mobile and were perfect for use on the colliery surface to deal with any emergencies aboveground.
The Godiva Fire Pumps started life in the late 1930’s as a division of Coventry Climax Engines Ltd combining the Coventry Climax engine with the Godiva pump. The Godiva fire pump trailers were first used in WWII. After the coal industry was nationalised in 1947, the newly formed NCB used ex-military surplus equipment to supply the collieries.
