Please note that we are set to temporarily pause our iconic Underground Tours, from Sunday 29 December until April 2025, to install a brand new winding engine. The Museum will remain open with a brand-new Time Tunnel experience launching in January 2025.
The Lilly controller is a safety device which stops winding cages moving too fast, thereby protecting against overwinds. The Lilly used speed controllers to slow the winder when it was getting close to either the pit top or pit bottom.
