Following further negotiations with UNISON,industrial action, largely affecting our Underground Tours, is confirmed to take place until Thursday 9 November. Although Underground Tours will be unavailable during this period, theMuseum Remains Open, and continues to share the important history of coal mining with our visitors. The next stage of development for the Clanny Lamp was the shielded Clanny. There were simple bonnets that covered the exposed gauze of a normal clanny. In many cases, these bonnets were added after the fact, with ironworkers making new bonnets for existing Clannys.
