Artist and photographer Anton Want studied Photography, Design and Photo-Journalism. In 1994 he was named as Fuji British Press Photographer of the Year. More recently he has moved away from news media and his work has concentrated on art commissions and personal projects. This includes ‘Pit Profiles; Re-Profiled’ a project jointly funded by the Arts Council and the National Coal Mining Museum to photograph and record miners at the last deep coal mine, Kellingley Colliery. This work led to a touring exhibition shown at the Museum in 2014.
