Fun for all the family at the National Coal Mining Museum this October
The National Coal Mining Museum is ready for a fangtastic October half term with lots of scarily good activities for visitors of all ages.
From Saturday, 26 October to Sunday, 3 November, families can come along for free crafts, storytelling, nature trails, tours plus much more.
Families with older children can try some terrific textile crafts, making a terrifyingly good cat or go on a tour to find out what makes our mine water pumpkin orange.
Families can take part in a lantern making workshop, creating magnificent illuminating creations which can then take part in the museums annual Light Up festival.
Half term is the perfect time to travel deep down underground on the Museum iconic underground tour which allows visitors to travel 140M underground on a unique experience that allows them to experience industry and technology through the decades.
If this wasn’t enough there is all the usual fun including housekeeper talks, meet the ponies, a ride on the paddy trail, amazing play area plus much more.
The Museum is open Wednesday to Sunday and entry is free of charge.
Lynn Dunning, CEO of the National Coal Mining Museum for England, said: “The Museum is a great place for families to visit all year round. There is so much on offer for a low cost and exciting family day out. Our underground experience is not to be missed and there are so many creative activities to do during the October half term.”
